HAIKU Coffee Roasters

中崎町駅から徒歩で5分ぐらいに、天五中崎通商店街を通して、右側に小さな路地があります。路地を入って、右側に「HAIKU COFFEE」に書かれてる丸い青看板がお店に掛けられているからすぐ分かります。

Hidden away in a side street of the Tengo Nakazaki Shopping street is this stylish Hawaiian influenced cafe called ‘HAIKU Coffee Roasters’.

The cafe is on only a 5 minute walk from Nakazakicho Station, going through the covered shopping street look for a small alley on the right, walk through there and find the cafe on your right. The cafe has a big blue round panel with ‘Haiku Coffee’ on it hanging on the front of the shop so you can’t miss it.

Like the blue sign outside, the walls inside the cafe are painted blue combined with a white ceiling as you can find in Hawaii. The stylish interior is mixed with a black counter, antique copper elements, a few plants and some Hawaiian decoration.

The slanted part of the cafe features a typical Hawaiian flower pattern wallpaper that adds a Hawaiian feeling to the interior.

The entrance and interior are spacious so even welcoming for people with babycars or wheelchairs. The cafe has both counter and table-seats for the right amount of customers to keep a calm and comfortable atmosphere.

Haiku, contrary to popular belief, is not the Japanese type of poetry but is the name of a town in Maui where the owner’s wife is originally from. They both run HAIKU Coffee Roasters together.

On the menu are a few different drip coffees, chai tea, craft beer and homemade ginger ale. For food they have bagels, a brownie and a original Haiku banana bread.

HAIKU Coffee Roasters is an ideal cafe to have a drink, eat some sweets and relax or having a nice chat with one of the owners.
